Our
Mission
We want to build a infrastructure that enables countries — starting with UK — to achieve their Computer Science Education mandates for ages 9-18.
A Recognised Problem without a Unified Solution
All countries have a 2030 vision; almost all of them include Computer Science literacy as a goal within - but do they have solutions for it?
UK 2030 vision is to drive “significant uptake” in Computer Science Education. But currently only 3.7% of students take Computer Science as a GCSE subject and the probability of a state or private school offering CS at A Level is less than 15%
Computer Science Education Trends in the UK
There is slow growth in Computer Science as a GCSE non-core option and low overall volume despite YoY increase in entrants. In fact, only
3.7%
of students take GCSE as a proportion of non-core subjects.
20%
as many A Level Comp Science students as Mathematics
As 2030 edges closer, and UK falls behind on the overall STEM education index relative to other comparable countries; there is ongoing pressure on the government to enable a Computer Science-literate workforce to meet future STEM demands
46%
of computing teachers in secondary school
held a post A-Level computing qualification.
5+
years in a row have Computer Science teachers been in the “skilled worker” visa job shortage occupation list
The UK is not on track to fulfil their 2030 STEM vision
and a big driver of this is their lack of supply (ie. teachers) who are able to teach GCSE & A Level Comp Science
